The Review.

Doctor Mars is a great story for the sci-fi lovers out there. Before we get into the good, I like to point out the bad. I didn't take a lot of writing classes, but I did pay attention to what works and what doesn't when it comes to writing an engaging story. First of all, the plot was dull within the forty pages, and there was little to no character development. I got really annoyed reading the story because it had a lot of "it felt, he felt, she felt, etc.," instead of describing it. It was more of the author telling me the story than pulling me in and feeling it for myself. Because of the lack of description when it came to a few points of the story, it was really hard to lose myself within the pages.

Another thing that bothered me was the beginning. A man is being experimented on, and all of a sudden, he knows how to utilize his new abilities without so much of a question raising in his mind? That had me extremely confused. As someone who is deftly out of shape, if I found that I had increased stamina, I'd be all what the hell? Did I become an Olympic champ overnight?

Though every story contains its flaws, I do have to say that the concept has a lot of potential as does the author himself. Even though I grew a bit irritated by the flaws it had, I found the story enjoyable and it left with a good cliffhanger -- not those cliffhangers-that-don't-seem-like-cliffhangers... cliffhangers. I would definitely recommend this quick read to a sci-fi lover looking for a new story to read.
